The main qualification criteria is:

• Your property must have a valid existing EPC ( Energy Performance Certificate). You can check your existing EPC using this website: https://find-energy-certificate.service.gov.uk/find-a-certificate/type-of-property
• The EPC cannot have any ‘recommendations’ for loft of cavity wall insulation. However, from May 2024 this requirement has been removed by OFGEM
• New builds and self-builds are eligible subject to conditions.
• Small commercial buildings may also qualify.
• You must be replacing an existing fossil fuel heating system unless this is your property’s first heating system.
• Existing electric storage heaters and electric boilers qualify.

It is also worth noting that heat pump installations are VAT free

The grant is usually deducted from the total installation cost and on successful completion of the system OFGEM will transfer the monies to the installer.
